Radiohead- “Reckoner”

TV on the Radio- “Staring at the Sun”

Sun Airway – Oh, Naoko

When the moonlight turns your shadow into a traitor
Turns you over to a world you can’t relate to
I’ll be there just to lasso you the moonshine
In the back of your mind just like a wind chime
I’ll be there when you call my name, oh, Naoko

When the winter turns your bed frame into a frail shell
Turns you over to a deep and dark well
I’ll be there just to lasso you the moonshine
In the back of your mind just like a wind chime
I’ll be there when you call my name, oh, Naoko

If your bones break from the weight of your snow
Make a pile of the wreckage by the old lake
From the lake to the river to the ocean where the coastlines go
With your brittle bones, and broken jack
My shells and stones and if my memory goes
It’s when I’m lost in your deep woods
This place gives me the shakes
And I’ll just tremble in your soil like an earthquake

I’ll be there just to lasso you the moonshine
In the back of your mind just like a wind chime
I’ll be there when you call my name, oh, Naoko

Yeasayer – I Remember

I remember making love on a Sunday
Bright golden hearts in a fresh cut grass in May
Woah
I remember making out on an airplane
Still afraid of flying, but with you I’d die today
Woah
I remember the smell of your skin forever
Love us being stupid together
Woah

You’re stuck in my mind
All the time

You’re stuck in my mind
All the time

You’re stuck in my mind
All the time

I remember Monday making your eyes red
Still don’t know what it is that I said
Woah
I remember thinking this would never end
Even when you’re gone, your eyes running through my head
Woah

You’re stuck in my mind
All the time

You’re stuck in my mind
All the time

You’re stuck in my mind
All the time

You’re stuck in my mind
All the time

The Xx vs. Deadmau5 and Kaskade- "I Remember Shelter"

While I’m on an xx kick, let me throw in this bonus. I’m not a huge fan of the original song, but coupled with deadmau5 trance it is soo chill. Great for losing your identity with someone you love.

The Xx- “Infinity”

MGMT - Indie Rokkers

I like the line between your belly and your thighs
(rollin
on, rollin on)
The smell of your hair
The sparkle in your eyes
(rollin
on, rollin on)
The smoke in your breath
The breathing hard and heavy
The back of your neck
The shine on your Chevy
The moon was so big when I drove it to the levy, girl
(rollin
on, rollin on)

I found blood and I saw stars
All in the backseat of your car
And I told you it was love
But you won
t know the truth
I
m a young man in my prime
With my heart still filled with fear
And it goes on clear

The clean dreams, the sexy limousine
(rollin
on, rollin on)
Jason’s got the energy
He used to be a coke fiend
(rollin
on, rollin on)
The skinny brown arms coming out of your shirt
Heart is in the right place, brain is in the dirt
You live life like everyone’s an enemy
(rollin
on, rollin on)

I found blood and I saw stars
All in the backseat of your car
And I told you it was love
But you won
t know the truth
I
m a young man in my prime
With my heart still filled with fear
And it goes on clear

The first verse of “Indie Rokkers” demonstrates very physical concepts that evoke the image of sex in the most impromptu of settings- the back of a car. It procures the feeling of spontaneity, as the lyrics lead the listener to envison that this was a spur-of-the-moment event. Similarly, the tone of the vocals adds a breathy urgency, and even a little first time nervousness. The protagonist’s young, fearful, and bursting with good intentions; however, for these same reasons, the physical act of sex dominates his mind. He’s afraid that his young love won’t be reciprocated, so he’s focusing solely on the physical.

MGMT spelled the title, “Indie Rokkers,” as if they were still a couple of barely pubescent, hard-rocking boys on purpose. It’s a barely pubescent, hard-rocking thing that the boy in the song is doing, and the title reflects that. The song itself documents the actions and the mood, reflecting on them without guilt or shame but with adult understanding.

Like Don McLean in “American Pie,” MGMT sings of the loss of adolescent hope and excitement in the new-found clarity of the singers’ adulthood.

Frank Sinatra- “The Way You Look Tonight

The best way to start any romantic evening (or sexy blog endeavor) is with classy music.

Manifesto

Simply put, this blog is here as a place to share some of our favorite songs to have sex to.

There are two curators: one of whom really likes deep, meaningful, poetic lyrics, the other of whom just likes some good noise.  Hopefully this will generate some positive diversity of posts.

Also, we realize that sex is subject to moods.  Therefore, we will try to vary our posts’ emotion/intensity and explain the emotion we attempted to hit with certain posts.

In the words of Woody Allen, “if you smoke after sex you’re doing it too fast.”  Therefore, slow down, throw on a good song, and enjoy.
